Kansas City Elopement Photographer
Getting married without the big wedding? Good call. Griffin Creative Co is a documentary elopement photography studio based in Kansas City, Missouri. Since 2018, we have photographed courthouse ceremonies, backyard vow exchanges, and full day adventures across the Midwest and beyond. Collections start at $900.
An elopement day moves differently. No seating charts, no schedule built around a DJ. The two of you, the people you love most, and a photographer who knows how to stay out of the way. We document the whole thing honestly, so the day looks like you and feels like you for decades.
Elopements, Intimate Weddings, and Everything Between
Elopement collections cover intimate celebrations without a full reception. Courthouse ceremonies. Vows on a trail at sunrise. A backyard dinner with your parents and closest friends. If your day skips the big reception, you are in the right place. Planning a full celebration with dinner, dancing, and a send off? Our wedding photography collections cover the whole day.
Documentary Elopement Photography
Small days deserve honest photographs. We give gentle direction when you want help, then step back and let the day happen. The nerves outside the courthouse. The vows nobody else heard. Your dad crying in the third row of folding chairs. These moments matter more than posed perfection, and they only happen once.
We edit with an evergreen approach. True colors, real skin tones, no trendy filters. Your photos should still look right in thirty years.
Courthouse Wedding Photography in Kansas City
Courthouse weddings are real weddings. We photograph ceremonies at the Jackson County Courthouse downtown and courthouses across the metro, then walk with you to a favorite spot nearby for portraits. Two hours covers the ceremony, the hugs on the steps, and a relaxed portrait session in the city. Package A was built for exactly this.
Where to Elope Near Kansas City
You have more options here than most people expect. The metro alone offers courthouse steps, rose gardens, prairie grass, and brick alleys within a short drive of each other. Favorite spots include Loose Park, the Kauffman Memorial Garden, the West Bottoms, and Kaw Point where the rivers meet. Within Package A’s 250 mile range, you reach the Flint Hills, Weston Bend, and the bluffs and springs around Lake of the Ozarks.
Many parks and trailheads require photography permits. We handle the homework, from permit rules to sunrise timing to backup plans for weather.
Destination Elopements Across the USA and Worldwide
Kansas City is home base, not a boundary. Package A stays within 250 miles of downtown, and Packages B and C go the distance. Rocky Mountain overlooks in Colorado, red rock in Utah, and foggy coastline in the Pacific Northwest. If the two of you have a place in mind, we will meet you there, cameras ready.
The same goes for elopements abroad. Sea cliffs in Ireland, a city hall in Paris, a quiet beach in Mexico, the village where your family began. We book our own travel, scout locations ahead when the schedule allows, and build your timeline around local favorites instead of a tour bus. You bring the rings. We bring the plan.
Destination pricing stays simple. Travel within 35 miles of downtown Kansas City is included with every collection. Beyond 35 miles, you pay your collection price plus one flat travel number, quoted at cost before you sign. No mileage math, no surprise fees after the special day.

ANSWERS
Frequently Asked Questions About Elopement Photography
How much does an elopement photographer cost in Kansas City?
Elopement collections at Griffin Creative Co start at $900 for 2 hours of courthouse or single location coverage. Four hours runs $1,500, and a full 8 hour adventure runs $2,500. Every price is listed above, nothing hidden.
How many guests count as an elopement?
We skip the headcount rules. If your celebration skips the full reception, the elopement collections fit. Bringing dinner, dancing, and a big guest list? Our wedding collections cover full celebrations.
Do you photograph courthouse weddings?
All the time. Package A was designed around courthouse ceremonies, with 2 hours to cover your ceremony and portraits around downtown afterward.
Do you travel for destination elopements?
Yes. Package A stays within 250 miles of downtown Kansas City. Packages B and C travel anywhere in the world. Travel within 35 miles of downtown is included, and anything beyond is billed at cost as one flat line item in your proposal.
Which states do you travel to for elopement photography?
All of them. Washington, Utah, Maine, and everywhere between. Travel is billed at cost as one flat line item, so a mountain elopement stays as simple to book as a courthouse ceremony back home.
Do you photograph elopements outside the United States?
Yes. Packages B and C travel worldwide. We keep our passports current, book our own travel, and quote the full travel cost upfront before you sign anything.
Do we need a permit to elope in a national park?
Usually, yes. Most national parks require a special use permit for ceremonies, and photography rules differ from park to park. Permit help is included with every collection, so the paperwork lands on our desk instead of yours.
How many photos will we get, and when?
Expect 35 to 55 finished images for each hour of coverage, all hand edited. Standard delivery is 4 to 6 weeks. Need photos fast? Rush delivery brings your gallery home in 2 weeks for $500.
Do you help plan the elopement?
Yes, and this is half the fun for us. Location scouting, permits, sunrise timing, officiant recommendations, and a timeline built around light instead of tradition. You get married. We sweat the logistics.
How late is too late to book?
If the date is open, we will take a booking at the last second. Last minute courthouse elopements happen all the time. Bookings made within 30 days of your date are paid in full at signing.
Do you photograph LGBTQ+ elopements?
Always. Love is for everyone, and every couple is welcome here.
