Kansas City Wedding Photographer
Your wedding day only happens once. We photograph the whole thing as one honest story. Griffin Creative Co is a documentary wedding photography company based in Kansas City, Missouri. Since 2018, we have photographed weddings the same way: no flash dumps, no Pinterest poses, no rush.
If you want wedding photos where you look like yourselves, laughing with your people in real light, you are in the right place.
Here is what sets us apart:
- Coverage from getting ready to the last song of the night
- Evergreen editing built to age well, not chase trends
- A small number of weddings each year, so you get our full attention
- Your complete gallery delivered within 4 to 6 weeks
Documentary Wedding Photography, Start to Finish
Documentary wedding photography means we photograph your day as things happen. We give a little direction when you need help, then step back and let the day unfold. The best images come from moments no one staged. Your grandmother fixing your veil. Your best friend crying through her toast. The dance floor at midnight.
Candid does not mean chaotic. We arrive early, learn the room, and know where each moment will happen before the ceremony starts. The work looks effortless because the preparation behind the scenes is exorbitant. You get a calm presence and a camera pointed at the right place at the right time.
We edit with an evergreen approach. No trendy presets, no heavy filters. Colors stay true to the light and skin tones stay true to you. These photos should look right on your wall in thirty years, not stuck in whatever style was popular the year you got married.
Family Photos Without the Wait
Candid coverage is the heart of our work, and a handful of organized group photos still matter. Before the wedding, we build a short list of the groupings you want. On the day, we run family photos quickly and kindly. Grandparents are not left standing around, and you get back to your people fast.
The same goes for portraits of the two of you. Gentle direction, a little movement, real laughs. Then back to the party.
What Working With Us Feels Like
We take on a limited number of weddings each year. Every couple gets our full attention, from the first email to the final gallery. Here is how the process works:
- Inquire: Send a note with your date, your venue, and what you are picturing. We reply within 72 hours.
- Meet: A 30-minute call, or coffee if you are in KC. No script, no sales pitch. We answer your questions and make sure we are a good fit.
- Sign: A simple contract and a 50% retainer lock your date on our calendar.
- Celebrate: We show up like friends, shoot the whole day, and deliver your full gallery within 4 to 6 weeks.
On the day, we blend in. Couples often tell us their guests forgot a camera was in the room. You stay present with your people. We handle the rest.
A Full Day, Told Honestly
Wedding coverage with us follows the whole arc of the day. Getting ready with your favorite people. A first look, or the walk down the aisle if you would rather wait. Vows, rings, the kiss. Golden hour portraits with the two of you, guided gently so you never wonder what to do with your hands. Then dinner, toasts, and a candid record of the party your friends will talk about for years.
You never have to perform for the camera. Show up, get married, and love your people. We handle the photographs.
Wedding Photography Across Kansas City and Beyond
We photograph weddings across the entire Kansas City metro, on both sides of the state line. Couples book us in Overland Park, Olathe, Leawood, Lee’s Summit, Shawnee, Lenexa, Independence, Liberty, Parkville, North Kansas City, and Lawrence. Downtown lofts, historic hotels, backyard ceremonies, barns an hour outside the city. We know how to work in all of them.
Plenty of our couples get married far from Kansas City, and we love a good road trip. We travel across the country and worldwide for weddings. If your day is in the mountains, on a coast, or in your hometown three states away, send us a note. Travel is one of our favorite parts of the job.

ANSWERS
Frequently Asked Questions About Wedding Photography
How much does a wedding photographer cost in Kansas City?
Wedding photography collections at Griffin Creative Co start at $2,000 for six hours of coverage. Every collection includes one photographer for coverage, a fully edited gallery, and printing rights. Reach out for the complete pricing guide for your perfect day.
Do you travel for weddings outside Kansas City?
Yes. We are based in Kansas City and travel worldwide. Travel fees depend on the location, and we keep them simple and clear in your proposal.
Do you offer wedding videography too?
Not at this time. We photograph weddings only for now, with plans to add wedding films in the future. Ask when you inquire and we will tell you where things stand.
How many photos will we receive?
For your wedding day, expect about 35-55 finished images per hour of coverage, each one hand edited. A second photographer adds another 10-20 images per hour. No filler, no duplicates, no watermarks, no AI.
When will our wedding photographs be delivered?
Your complete gallery arrives within 4 to 6 weeks of your wedding.
Do you help plan the photography timeline?
Yes. Before your wedding, we walk through the day together and build a photography timeline around your priorities. You get the photos you want without losing time with your guests.
What if the weather forecasts change on our wedding day?
Rain, wind, and gray skies still make honest photographs. We scout covered options ahead of time and work with whatever the sky gives us. Some of our favorite images came from days with the worst forecasts.
Do you offer engagement sessions?
Yes. Many couples pair their wedding collection with an engagement session so the two of you feel comfortable in front of our cameras before the big day. Ask about adding one to your collection.
Do you photograph LGBTQ+ weddings?
Always. Love is for everyone, and every couple is welcome here.
How far ahead should we book wedding photography?
We are currently booking 2026 and 2027 weddings, and we hold a limited number of dates each year. If you have a date, even a year out, reach out now.

Finding the Light in Kansas City
Every shoot starts with the same question: where will the light be when it matters? Since 2018, across weddings and elopements in the Midwest, that single answer has shaped everything from the gear I carry to the hours I keep. Good light is rarely convenient, and it…
