Kansas City Engagement Photographer
You said yes. Now get photos of the two of you while the news is still fresh. Griffin Creative Co is a documentary engagement photography studio based in Kansas City, Missouri. Since 2018, we have photographed newly engaged couples across the metro and beyond. Engagement sessions run $300 per hour, and booked wedding clients get a 2 hour session for a flat $400.
Engagement photos should look like your relationship, not a catalog. We keep the direction light, the pace slow, and the poses out of the way. What you get back is the two of you, laughing in real light, right at the start of everything.
Documentary Engagement Photography
You will not stand shoulder to shoulder staring at a lens for two hours. We build your session around doing, not posing. Walk the neighborhood where you met. Grab a drink at your usual spot. Race to the top of a hill at golden hour. We give small prompts when you want help, then photograph what happens between the two of you.
The editing stays evergreen. True colors, honest skin tones, nothing trendy. These photos will hang at your wedding, sit on your parents’ shelves, and open your album for the rest of your lives. They need to age well.
Engagement Photo Locations in Kansas City
Kansas City gives engaged couples plenty to work with. The Loose Park rose garden earns its reputation every June. The Nelson-Atkins south lawn gives you sculpture, sky, and room to run. The Country Club Plaza glows from Thanksgiving through January, and the Crossroads is wall to wall murals and brick. For water and old trees, English Landing Park in Parkville is worth the short drive at sunset.
Pick a place with meaning, or borrow ours. Location planning comes with every session. We match spots to your outfits, your comfort level, and the light, then time the whole session around golden hour when the calendar allows.
Surprise Proposal Photography in Kansas City
Planning to propose? We hide in plain sight. Before the day, we scout the spot together, pick your mark, and agree on a signal. On the day, we blend in with a long lens while you get down on one knee. You get the gasp, the yes, the hands over the mouth, and the phone calls to your families afterward. Then we roll straight into a mini session while the adrenaline settles.
One tip from experience: tell us the ring details ahead of time. Ring shots happen while the two of you are busy celebrating.

ANSWERS
Frequently Asked Questions About Engagement Photography
How much do engagement photos cost in Kansas City?
Engagement sessions at Griffin Creative Co run $300 per hour with a one hour minimum. Most couples book 2 hours across 2 locations and invest $600. Booked wedding clients pay a flat $400 for the same session. Every price is listed above, nothing hidden.
How long is an engagement session?
Two hours is the sweet spot. Enough time for 2 locations, an outfit change, and the twenty minutes of warming up every couple needs. Short on time? One hour at a single location still fills a gallery.
What should we wear for engagement photos?
Outfit planning help comes with every session, and the short version is this: dress like the best version of a normal day. Pick clothes you move well in, favor color over loud patterns, skip brand new shoes, and bring one dressed up option if you want range. Matching is out. Coordinating is plenty.
When should we take engagement photos?
Soon after the yes, while the excitement is fresh. For planning purposes, most couples shoot 8 to 12 months before the wedding, since save the dates tend to mail 6 to 8 months out. Golden hour slots go quickly, and fall dates in Kansas City book early.
Do you photograph surprise proposals?
All the time, and the secret stays safe with us. We scout the spot with you, hide nearby, and photograph the whole moment without your partner ever noticing a camera. A mini portrait session afterward comes standard.
Do we get print rights for save the dates?
Yes. Every session includes the full edited gallery with print rights. Print the save the dates, the invitations, the canvas for your parents, and anything else you dream up. No extra fees, no watermarks.
When will we get our photos?
Expect 35 to 55 finished images for each hour, all hand edited, within 4 to 6 weeks. Save the date deadline coming fast? Rush delivery brings your gallery in 1 week for $200.
Is an engagement session included with wedding packages?
Wedding packages focus on the wedding day, so sessions book separately. Booked wedding clients get the engagement session at a flat $400 instead of the standard rate, scheduled on a separate day before the wedding. Take a look at our wedding photography collections for full package details.
Do you photograph LGBTQ+ couples?
Always. Love is for everyone, and every couple is welcome here.
